Hunter

I meant to get this post up earlier, but life has been going on full steam around here.

About two weeks ago, we lost our beloved dog Hunter. He was only a few months shy of five years old when he died of cancer. Hunter was actually Amy's dog - she raised him from a puppy, took him to several levels of obedience training and was even able to show him once. It was a tremendous loss to her as it was to all of us. Hunter was a wonderful, loving, happy dog and he is sorely missed.

We who choose to surround ourselves
with lives even more temporary than
our own live within a fragile circle,
easily and often breached.

Unable to accept its awful gaps
we still would live no other way.
We cherish the memory as the only certain
immortality, never fully understanding
the necessary plan.

"The Once Again Prince"
