Dialouge in the Dark

Friday our homeschool group went to Dialogue in the Dark. We have been studying the human body this year and this fit in well with our study. The exhibit has blind or visually impaired guides which take you through different scenes (park, grocery store, city street) in the total darkness. I don't mean the darkness where your eyes finally adjust and you can see - this is total pitch black darkness where you cannot even see your hand in front of your face. They give you canes to use and take you into these different scenes and then you are to use your other senses to figure out where you are and figure out what is in that particular scene. It sure did give you a perspective on being blind that I did not have before. I think about a blind person not seeing, but don't really think about the darkness they are in. It was very well done and if anyone has a chance to go, I think you would find it very educational.
