Rehearsal Dinner

Here are some random pictures from the rehearsal dinner. I even made it back from the hospital in time for the dinner!

One of Matthew's favorite people! She was the pianist in the wedding.

My New Nephew

We have a new nephew and cousin. My sister delivered her second child on Friday. His name is Donovan Scott and all is well with both of them. Of course this was the weekend of our dear friend's wedding and my sister's delivery was the day of the rehearsal. So Friday morning the older girls were at the church working on decorations and food. Then we headed to the hospital as my sister was laboring. We stayed all afternoon until it was time to leave to take the girls to the rehearsal. Of course by then it was Friday afternoon traffic - which in Atlanta is awful. So we crawled across town realizing we would be late for rehearsal. About 5 minutes from home my sister calls and says she is ready to push and can I make it back. So I dropped the girls off in the driveway, and headed straight back to the hospital. I made it back about 5 minutes before he was born!

Happy Birthday Eric!

Today we celebrated Eric's birthday. This past weekend Eric started project number 857 around the house. OK it hasn't been quite that many, but I'm sure it feels like that to him. Eric works hard at his job and he has been working hard at this house ever since we moved in. We are all thankful for his work and for the skills he has that enable him to do so much. This current project is laying hardwood floors in the guest room upstairs. Of course we have a guest coming soon - nothing like a little pressure to get a job done! Amidst all this work, he still manages to have fun with the family and maintain a sense of humor in all the chaos (well at least most of the time!) Happy birthday to a wonderful husband and dad!

Easter and Birthday

We celebrated Easter with family - first with church family and then with Kim's family. It was a wonderful day.

Easter was early this year - very early. In fact the last time Easter came so soon was in the year 1913. And the next time it will be this early will be 2228! Providentially this early Easter landed on Abby's birthday - she would have been 13. What a comfort on her birthday to know that what we celebrate this day is what gives us the assurance that we will see her again. Abby we miss you greatly, but we look forward to that wonderful day when we will see you again.

Lives again our glorious King; Alleluia!
where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia!
Once he died, our souls to save; Alleluia!
where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia!
following our exalted Head; Alleluia!
made like him, like him we rise; Alleluia!
ours the cross the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Girl's Night

Everyone had been looking forward to the wedding, but certainly not looking forward to Eden's leaving. The girls have been spending quite a bit of time together enjoying each other before the big day.

Spring Break

Scott spent part of his spring break hiking on the Appalachian Trial with some friends from school. Unfortunately they got some of the rain and hail from the bad storms we had here in Atlanta, but they still had a good time. Scott is now back enjoying once again the comforts of modern life.

More Birthday!

Matthew and his cousin were born two days apart and are the best of friends. We had a joint family birthday celebration for them last weekend. Amy made a snake cake for Matthew. Dawson had a John Deere cake. Papa and Grandma gave them matching bikes.

Dear Bobbie

Katie is using this song as part of the sideshow she is creating for the upcoming wedding. When I first heard the song it reminded me of a dear older couple at our church. Her health had been failing over the past few years and his love and care for her was an example to all. She died this week and we attended the funeral yesterday. In some of the comments on her life her son-in-law commented how she and her husband used to jitterbug. Then I knew this song was for them . I post it in honor of her .

Happy Birthday Matthew!

Matthew turned 4 today. He was very excited to be older. He keeps saying he wants to be older so that he can chop wood and get a chain saw. I think we are still many years away on that one!
